TP
My doctor informed me that none of his patients were going to die of colon cancer and that the time had come for a colonoscopy. I rescheduled this thing about 5 times because I'm modest (o.k. so I'm just a big fat chicken). So why am I bringing this topic up on a blog for God's sake? To let anyone out there who is afraid to have this procedure done know...it is not that big of a deal. You will be so proud of yourself to finally do it (and you know you've been worrying about this for a long time) and that you might even feel empowered to make other long overdue changes in your life.
My last and only advice is to the little girl who scheduled my appointment...wherever you are honey....no, you can not take the prep while at work. I know you said it depended on my "comfort level," but that is a crock of shit (pun intended).
Speaking of....did you hear that the guy who wrote the "Please don't squeeze the Charmin" commercials died today? Watch the vintage commercials of Mr. Whipple.

Knit Your Hearts With an Unslipping Knot
Speaking of meaningful lives and balance, I have three baby blankets to knit by August 22nd! Oh twist my arm, a trip to the yarn shop was in order. Traditional pastel colors are not so popular these days, which makes for some pretty creative baby blankets. I have one nursery to match a "growing" theme....she's getting bright oranges, greens and blues. Another nursery has a ladybug theme, but they aren't really "red" ladybugs...whatever that means. She's getting a pretty pinkish reddish varigated yarn. My knitting skills are slightly beyond advanced beginner. Actually, my best friend teases me that my baby blankets resemble the hand knit dish cloths I made her for Christmas!
NPR is running a series called the Baby Project. They sent out requests for readers to share stories and pictures of their newborn babies wrapped in the traditional hospital pink & blue striped receiving blankets....way cute. They received over 2,000 stories and photos. I loved the story about the mom who lives on a small island and got all the babies born within a 6 month range together for a picture (something like 8 of them) because the island is so small, they'll go clear through high school together. What a great idea!
This post inspired me to find a purpose for this sweet little journal I purchased months ago, but just couldn't think what to use it for.... the cover quotes William Shakespeare, "Knit your hearts with an unslipping knot."
Thinking I will turn this into a project journal and save yarn samples and pictures of completed projects wrapped around their new owners. Do you have any thoughtful ideas of how to track your projects? Or unique baby blankets to share?

Authenticity
After several of years of good intentions, I am stumbling back to an authentic life. What is an authentic life? Good question! One thing I do know is that when you are not living right, you know it. I went back to college after the kid's moved out; then landed a job that I thought would be my life's work....turns out it might just be a chapter.
The resurrection of this blog is an attempt to journal my way back to a joyous life and experience real feelings, creativity and passion. Please share your stories and tips on finding a meaningful well balanced life and lessons you've learned. I love a good story...and no need to sugarcoat it. Tell it in your own words. If you aren't familiar with StoryCorps, be sure to check it out (real people telling their stories). I meet people everyday who share a small nugget of their life in only a simple sentence or in a conversation. How do you find meaning in those random comments you hear? People drop them everywhere you go...it's all about the awareness to hear them, digest them and use them.
Thanks for reading and good luck in your pursuit of an authentic life.

A Rose Is A Rose
The last rose of the season.....today I filled the bird feeders and tried to look forward to a new landscape out the window. I love looking out the window. Whenever I think about getting old, I think well atleast you will always have that, right? hhhmmm...does that make me an optimist or a pessimist? I think I need some more window time.
